24 oct – 08 dec 2019
Copying to interpret: the modern idea that sees the copy as a creative expression has its precursor in Medardo Rosso. And this is the theme of the exhibition at Palazzo Altemps, which runs until 2 February 2020, curated by Francesco Stocchi, curator of the Boijmans Museum in Rotterdam, Paola Zatti, curator of the Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Milan, with Alessandra Capodiferro, head of the Museo di Palazzo Altemps. The exhibition seeks to document the importance of Medardo’s work as a forerunner of the 20th century’s artistic avant-gardes. In conjunction with the exhibition, the museum is offering talks, extraordinary openings and guided tours.
Conversations at Altemps about Medardo Rosso
On two Sunday mornings, starting at 11 am, dedicated to deepening the themes of the exhibition. Conversations are included in the admission fee and will be followed, at 12 am, by a free guided tour.
24 November, 11 am
Marcello Barbanera talks with photographer Aurelio Amendola.
“Sculpting with Light” is the theme of the meeting, where light as a material is part of Rosso’s vocabulary. An element that permeates not only his sculptural works, but also his photographs, which enabled him to develop an independent and complete research into matter and light.
8 December, 11 am
Marcello Barbanera dialogues with the sculptor Fabio Viale
At Altemps with Medardo Rosso, extraordinary openings with guided tours
Every Thursday until 28 November the exhibition can be visited until 11 pm, with guided tours included in the admission ticket, which for the occasion is 5 euros. Visits, with a maximum of 25 participants, can be booked at the museum ticket office.
