The charm of a city where alongside the glories of the Hapsburg empire, one feels "already in Italy".
Visiting Trieste “we find ourselves in a collage where everything coexists contiguously: the Hapsburg empire, Fascism, 1945, nostalgia for an imperial past, but also nationalism and belief in independence” (Claudio Magris, Itaca e oltre, Milan 1982, p. 282).
The first part of the guide retraces the historical, artistic and urban development of the city.
The second part, beginning with a map with indications of the sites, churches and buildings described in the text, proposes a series of urban itineraries, each with its own theme, but without excluding artistic episodes from other eras and atmospheres. The circular routes make it possible to explore the entire city.
