“My Lord Duke takes pleasurc in his residcnce in Mantua, a large and richly fumished palace, which would more than suffice for any great king: So the Ducal Palace appeared in 1615, in the words of the Venetian ambassador, Giovanni da Mula. Today the palace is stili a labyrinth of chambers, loggias, courtyards and salons, which welcomes the visitor with its extraordinary artistic heritage: the paintings of Pisanello, the Camera Picta by Andrea Mantegna and the tapestries designed by Raphael are only a tew ofthe sights in this magnificent monumental complex.
