[Terracotta and brick. Crafts in Umbria] This essay presents the results of research conducted on the production of objects in terracotta and building materials in clay in the territory of Umbria, with an overview of typologies and places of manufacture. A wide range of sources has been utilized: linguistic, archaeological and anthropological studies, as well as folklore and local memories. The production of terracotta and brick has centuries-old roots in this region, though in recent decades the crafts tradition has been gradually vanishing.
The volume also includes a glossary of technical terms and a useful bibliography.
