Taormina Naxos. Guida archeologica

Taormina Naxos. Guida archeologica

€ 12,00

Known as “The island of the sky”, here the ancient Greeks founded their first Sicilian colony, Naxos, in 734 BC, on the small volcanic peninsula, the furthest outcrop of majestic Etna, framed by trees and shrubs in bloom. Perched on top of the hill is Taormina, a Greek city that soon came under Roman rule.
The guide, featuring essays by experts and a vast collection of pictures, explores the remains of Taormina’s ancient town, with particular focus on its famous Theatre. Popular in the past with travellers undertaking the Grand Tour, hymned in art and literature for its spectacular sea views, the Theatre still hosts important festivals and events today.
The second part of the book explores the excavation site in the Archaeological Park in Naxos, with updates on the most recent archaeological finds.
