RUINS AND RESTITUTION IN ITALY. The tutelage of cultural assets in Italy, the issue of the black market for art and the question of long-term loans between museums around the world.
Starting with the first provisions made in the 19th century and finishing with a reflection on the concept of tutelage currently, the exhibition sets out to progress made in protecting Italy’s artistic patrimony. The exhibition, which is articulated in six sections, addresses the issue of art trafficking and also touches on the question of natural disasters, which has drawn institutions, associations and the community together to protect works of art and which has confirmed the usefulness of preventative documentation for the purposes of restoration.
