The overall catalogue of the paintings of an outstanding exponent of Italian abstraction: a mental structure charged with ethical values, in a context of orderly construction of the image.

[Rho / General catalogue] The activity as a painter of Rho is interwoven with the story of early Italian abstraction. Part of the group of abstract artists that emerged in the 1930s in Como, alongside the rationalist architects Terragni, Lingeri and Cattaneo and remained a minority in the Italy of late Novecento mural painting and archaeological classicism, his work stands out for its complex system of balances and intersections of planes and colors, at times tending toward effects of virtual movement.
The general catalogue finally permits effective examination of the entire oeuvre of this painter, revealing his cultural openness, the continuity and richness of his research based on unflagging linguistic experimentation, determination in the study of structures and colors, far from any formalism and also, in substance, from that idealistic suspension that characterizes the Italian abstract art of the 1930s.
