In the last few years, food has become an important topic of discussion even in the sphere of design, having broken out from the confines of a discipline which restricted it to being a subject for 'gastronauts' employed by food-guides, with their all-important 'star' system. Having devoted many projects to the subject, MART (Trento and Rovereto Modern Art Museum) aims to draw attention to the "shape of taste" in the highest spheres of design.
The food is need, plesure and power. There are so much parts of the world which cannot avoid easily nourishment. Instead, in conutries which abound with food and wellness, food is part of a system which allows social life and daily routine. Chineses’ involtini primavera or supplì are just examples of recepies passed down among generations. As the architecture of a vernaculrar’s house, New Orleans’ “gumbo” soup or lasagna are based on a mixture of some unalterable ingredients coming from local areas.
Local dishes are also an example of design such as paper clips and post-it. Spaghetti or sandwich have much to tell about design timeless role. Food is one of the deepest expressions of both single man and people.
