The volume, which benefits from the supervision of Davide Livermore, accompanies the exhibition of the Fondazione INDA devoted to the theatrical season that marked the resumption of productions in the Greek Theater of Syracuse in 1921, with Aeschylus’ The Libation Bearers, after a seven-year hiatus due to World War I.
The exhibition, which will be presented at the Palazzo Greco of Syracuse on the first leg (1 July – 30 September 2021) on an itinerant itinerary, recounts and celebrates charismatic figures such as Count Mario Tommaso Gargallo, president of the Executive Committee, the archaeologist Paolo Orsi, director of the Archaeological Museum, the artistic director Ettore Romagnoli, the composer Giuseppe Mulé, the painter Duilio Cambellotti and the director of the local School of Art Applied to Industry, Giovanni Fusero, protagonists of a collective commitment that led to the creation of an outstanding production at the beginning of the twentieth century, marking the resurrection of the ancient theater a hundred years ago.
