Oscar Niemeyer is one of the world's best known architects, familiar even to the general public. This exhibition is being held to mark two events which project Turin onto the international scene as a world capital of architecture and design.
Born on December 15, 1907, and still active, Niemeyer embodies the central issue of European culture: modernity. A rare coincidence has led to the organization of an exhibition on Niemeyer’s work in Turin in 2008: the centenary of the life and work of the Brazilian master and of the XXIII World Congress of Architects (June 29 to July 3, 2008). All through 2008, Turin is also a showcase for Italian and international design (Turin 2008 World Design Capital).
