The catalogue presents a study on the most innovative museums of contemporary art.
The catalogue, edited by DARC in collaboration with Pippo Ciorra, presents a study on the most innovative museums of contemporary art. In particular it refers to the kind of museum that cannot be identified with a single building or a closed and compact structure and that nowadays is spreading more and more. The main idea is that of investigating how new museum institutions reshape themselves, abandoning traditional building in accordance with the new relations between contemporary art, the physical space of the city and the conceptual space of art market and media. Among the examples are Dashanzi 798 in Peking, Metropolitana dell’arte in Naples, Palais de Tokyo in Paris and Antonio Presti’s Fiumara d’Arte in Castel di Tusa.
