Electa is publishing a catalogue in three languages (French, Italian, English) to accompany the exhibition Le Violon d’Ingres, a project born from a dialogue between the curator Chiara Parisi and the artist Christian Boltanski, an exceptional exhibition on the transversal and radical practices of brilliant personalities from all periods. Focusing on the figure of Victor Hugo and a stringent and surprising selection of his drawings, at the same time the exhibition presents the passions and obsessions, less well known to the public, of extraordinary artists.
The volume includes 300 images of works by Chantal Akerman, Gérard Audinet, Boris Bergmann, Christian Boltanski, Italo Calvino, Ian Christie, Pierre Georgel, Donatien Grau, Stijn Huijts, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Pierre Klossowski, Chris Kraus, Nelson Mandela, Federico Nicolao, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Arnold Schönberg, Patti Smith and Jacqueline Sudaka-Bénazéraf, They are accompanied by important texts written by the artists themselves or others, with a foreword by Muriel Mayette-Holtz and an introduction by Chiara Parisi, which includes a conversation with the psychiatrist Bernard Granger.
