The Terramare, vast settlements that appeared during the Bronze Age, bear witness to one of the most extraordinary and ancient episodes of urbanization of all prehistoric Europe, and the birth of the urban civilization of the Po Valley plains. The catalogue of the exhibition held in Modena in 1997 presents the results of pale-ethnological and archaeological research conducted over the last twenty years in the Po Valley, for historical and geographical contextualization of the Terramare. The volume illustrates over 200 objects, including pottery vessels, utensils in bone and deer antler, tools for spinning, bronze weapons and gold objects. Thanks to meticulous historical and iconographic materials, the book shed lights on the results of the major excavations of the 19th century.
