Dedicated to Fabio Sargentini and his Roman Gallery, l'Attico, the book explores the ferment of the Sixties and Seventies, when the gallery was organising one-man shows that made history thanks to their experimental nature and because they launched artists of the stature of Pascali, Kounellis, Pistoletto, Mattiacci.
Hese were the years when the gallery was programming memorable one-man shows by artists of the calibre of Jannis Kounellis, Mario Merz, Eliseo Mattiacci, Sol Lewitt, Gino De Dominicis, Denis Oppenheim, Jean Tinguely. At the same time Fabio Sargentini was organising music and dance festivals that smoothed the path to performance art. Many of the artists invited were making their European debut. The book successfully demonstrates how truly contemporary that artistic and human experience was. An impressive quantity of previously unpublished documents and stunning photographs by Claudio Abate, who played an active role in those years, further enhance the volume.
