In the works of recent years Canella's role in Italian postwar architecture takes on even clearer, more significant contours.
[Guido Canella. Works and projects] This second volume published by Electa on the work of Guido Canella (born in 1931) covers the work done since 1987, the year of publication of the earlier volume in the same Architectural Documents series. Because the first book is now out of print, its principle text is reprinted in this volume, along with a series of profiles of the works completed before 1987.
The works from this more recent period (1988-2000) – approximately thirty, including projects and constructions, all documented by critical profiles and many illustrations – add new elements and reinforcements to the creative trajectory, as an architect and an intellectual, of one of the most original protagonists of Italian postwar architecture. The later work of the Milanese architect often opens the way for unusual, unexpected developments critics have not always been equipped to evaluate correctly.
