A selection of casts of Egyptian monuments, made in the nineteenth century by Luigi Vassalli, from the originals preserved in the Cairo Museum, and reordered by Ernesto Schiaparelli, record a little-known episode in the collection’s history. It emphasizes the importance of the collection among Italian and European Egyptological collections and its relation with the nascent Italian Egyptology.
