Running from 7 December 2019 to 24 May 2020 at the Museo Civico Archeologico in Bologna, the exhibition and the accompanying catalogue have the ambition of giving the general public a clear and engaging overview of the many new discoveries made by research over recent decades in the field as well as in museum deposits, shedding light on the Etruscans (the Rasna, as the they called themselves). The leitmotif of the project is the journey, following the example of the great 19th century travellers who decisively contributed to understanding the fascination and discovery of Etruscan civilisation. Underlying the journey, a number of major themes have guided research in recent decades, such as the foundation of cities and their subsequent structuring, both political and urban; handicrafts, artistic production, trade and cultural relations also on the Mediterranean horizon; funerary rituals; relations between the Etruscans and the other peoples of ancient Italy.
