For the first time, this book systematically brings together the approximately two hundred texts by Andrea Branzi, undoubtedly one of the leading thinkers on contemporaneity and the role of design as a field for experimentation, writings published by the magazine INTERNI, a permanent observatory on the culture of design and architecture, to which he contributed from 1979 to 2023.
An anthology of articles and essays accompanied by some autograph drawings, tracing forty years of reflections on the “project” and the changes in society in the broadest sense, through dialogues, portraits and interviews with representatives of design and criticism, continuous reflections, thoughts on architecture and interiors. By his writings, Branzi, a designer himself, gives a voice and form to a pyrotechnic range of topics, occasions and inventions characterised by “thought written in progression”, always striving towards an intellectual and unpredictable curiosity.
Themes such as the city and the metropolis, modernity poised between the technological dimension and animism, as well as reflections on teaching, art and suggestions for politicians, are just some of his many “acrobatic” topics, as Branzi liked to call them, and cultural fields which he explored and which always presented in clear and immediate prose.
A encounter with his writings that, presented now in their complexity, restores his intellectual achievement, documenting his reflections and digressions on the world of design over the last forty years.
