The "Unseen Brera" series continues with its periodic exhibition-dossiers displaying works conserved in the storerooms of the Pinacoteca di Brera, or the results of restorations and new acquisitions of the museum.
This edition of “Unseen Brera” is on Ambrogio da Fossano, known as Bergognone, and features five small panels acquired in recent years. The book examines the painter’s career and two distinct moments, namely the four paintings with the Prophets that appear in the early 1490s and reveal his adoption of the new Leonardesque “manner”, and the very refined Adoration that reflects an earlier moment dominated by Flemish influence, and shown here for the first time.
