The capacity of a visionary artist to give everyday objects the new dimension of the imagination. An original installation created for the magical rooms of the Ducal Palace in Mantua.
Arienti’s artistic expression uses objects that are already visually codified and reproposes them with new functions and new values: a page of a magazine becomes a wave, a telephone directory is converted into a vase, a poster becomes a drawing. A requirement deriving from his strong-felt and invigorated intention to flee in a productive way from the passive tedium of the information provided by the media, and to leave the spectator broader scope for his/her imagination. Filippo Trevisani, superintendent for the historic, artistic and ethno-anthropological heritage of Mantua, who is also the curator of the exhibition, interprets the exhibition at the Ducal Palace, and knits the artist’s earlier, broader-ranging work into the fabric.
