This volume is the catalogue of the exhibition presented at the Abbey of Valserena in Parma, the premises of the CSAC, from 14 September to 23 December 2024.
Landscape is here taken as representative of much of the thinking about art and design in Italy after the war, arising from research into materials in the CSAC archives. An archive that itself has become synonymous with the cultural landscape in offering the starting point for countless narratives. In fact, its contents range from fashion, in the crucial transition to industrial culture, to architectural design for buildings with a new function and use; from documentary photography between urban growth and industrialisation in years that brought about extensive changes, to that of an Italy of minor tones; from the film poster to the art of figures such as Giosetta Fioroni and Mario Sironi, among others, who contributed uniquely to the representation of the landscape in their works.
The essays are accompanied by an extensive photo album that brings together numerous images and archival documents, to complement and deepen the account given in the first part of the book.
Together, the exhibition and publication embody the results of the research conducted as part of the three-year Accessibilità project. From the physical archive to the digital archive and back. The materials, finally systematised and fully filed in the CSAC archive, with the exhibition and the catalogue are now shared with a broader public.
