This volume is devoted to the work of Antonio Citterio, a designer and architect specializing in interior and retail design, and exhibitions. Citterio was born in 1950 at Meda, Italy. He gained a degree in architecture at the Milan Polytechnic and set up his own business in 1971. He won the Compasso d’Oro award in 1987 and 1994 respectively for the Sity seating system he designed for B&B Italia and the Mobil drawer system produced by Kartell. From 1993 to 1995 he was an external member of the examination board of the Furniture Design Course at the Royal College of Art in London. A lecturer at the Domus Academy in Milan and the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, he founded Antonio Citterio & Partners in 1999. His work as an industrial designer, which has led him to collaborate with leading Italian and international companies, is analyzed in depth in this volume. Citterio is not simply a designer but a great all-rounder who inspires winning business strategies. The book is divided into four sections, each corresponding to the most significant stages in his career, and features detailed descriptions of individual design projects, from his most famous creations in the furniture sector to his latest researches and experiments. His success and the recognition he has received from fellow designers and the business world is not always matched at the historic and critical level; therefore, this volume aims to provide readers with the necessary tools for truly understanding and evaluating his work.
