The concept of Metamorphosis in Greek myths has been one of the most fascinating and thought provoking themes throughout history, from Ovid's opus magnum up until more contemporary psychological interpretations.
Throughout history various disciplines, from the humanities to literature and art in particular, have been fascinated with Daphne, Narcissus, Echo and Hermaphrodites, creating portraits that have become an integral part of our collective imaginations. This book offers a collection of stories and myths on metamorphosis and transformation, and a selection of scholarly essays exploring the theme and accompanied by a rich assortment of illustrations portraying ancient and modern works of art. The book is published as part of the exhibition “Amori Divini. Le metamorfosi del mito” at the Museo Archeologico in Naples from 7th June to 16th October 2017.
