The tradition of the curative waters, from the 1700s to the present, and the history of the most important towns with hot springs in the Veneto, reconstructed with the aid of a fine selection of illustrations.
[At the springs of pleasure. The civilization of the spa] The healthful properties of the waters have been known since antiquity, but over the last three centuries the spas have become popular as never before in Italy.
In the first part the book retraces the history of hot springs spas from the 1700s to the present: through fine iconographic documentation – etchings, photographs, posters, flyers, brochures – the therapeutic methods of the various eras are reconstructed, while examining the changes in fashions in dress and the evolution of advertising graphics. The second part of the book covers the hot springs of the Veneto, with historical-descriptive profiles of each locality.
