Temporalità e permanenza
curated by Rita Paris, María Margarita Segarra Lagunes
The exhibition features twenty-nine works by the Mexican sculptor, mainly consisting of patinated bronze. María Lagunes creates real architectural spaces in which figures – stylized and contorted, elongated and smooth – proliferate and voids prevail over solids, characterizing the artist’s elegant stylistic hallmark.
The sculptures are set in the spaces of the monumental complex with their expressive power, triggering a continuous and virtuous dialogue between ancient and contemporary with the remains of the site, charged with history, forming an authentic testimony to the transformation of the Appian landscape starting from the prehistoric eruptions of the Latium Volcano.
