Published on the occasion of the solo exhibition hosted by Triennale Milano, this book explores the work of Davide Allieri (Bergamo, 1982). Allieri’s practice is filled with references that range from cinema to theater to sci-fi and is characterized by a number of recurring themes, including experimentation with the materials, a reflection on the spatio-temporal coordinates within dystopian habitats, and the presence of elements of protection and isolation—shell-devices abandoned inside post-apocalyptic environments. The result is a landscape of abandonment, distinguished by the remains and traces of a society that has become extinct, the ominous sign of an uncertain future. By resemanticizing the wreckage, Allieri ponders the ambiguity between past and future, abandonment and recovery, destruction and invention. The book also includes an extensive number of images retracing the artist’s creative process and his visual references.
