This volume accompanies the exhibition held from 19 May to 24 November 2024 in Murano at the Museo del Vetro, Spazio Ex Conteri, and presents Federica Marangoni’s intense work in glass during her 55-year career, experimenting with it in eclectic and multidisciplinary ways, always in search of new expressive languages. The story of he art unfolds through the spaces of the museum, dwelling on significant phases of her production and the thematic areas that have always interested her, evolving over time with the acquisition of new languages. The book opens with a selection of critical texts by curators and art historians who have documented his artistic evolution over the years. Her glass works from the 80s and 90s show a firmly established relationship with the island of Murano and highlight her visionary ability to move from tabletop works to others with architectural and public dimensions. In more recent years, the use of electronics has become a fundamental element in her artistic practice, and in her works the combination of glass, video and light has become increasingly prominent. From small works we move on to large ones, in which the artist uses industrial glass. The exhibition closes with Work: Monument to Women’s Work, to celebrate 55 years of the artist’s prolific creative activity. The critical accounts are by Chiara Squarcina, Pierre Restany, Roberta Semeraro, Viana Conti, Stefano Boeri, Jean Blanchaert, Francesca Gallo, Daniele Crippa.
