Massimo Bertoldi

70 Teatro stabile di Bolzano La storia, gli spettacoli

Caption

Through largely unpublished materials and photographs, this volume presents a reconstruction of the extraordinary history of one of the leading Italian theatres.

The Teatro Stabile of Bolzano was founded in 1950. For 70 years it has been the main theatrical institution in Trentino-Alto Adige. It has been supported by the State since its foundation and is recognized by the Italian Culture Ministry as one of the twenty TRICs, Theaters of Outstanding Cultural Interest at the national level.

Based on previously unpublished materials and illustrations, Massimo Bertoldi reconstructs and analyses the historical and artistic development of the Teatro Stabile of Bolzano through a detailed analysis of the achievements and guidelines of its directors: Fantasio Piccoli (1950-1965), Renzo Ricci ( 1966-1967), Renzo Giovampietro (1967-1968), Maurizio Scaparro (1969-1975), Alessandro Fersen (1975-1978), Marco Bernardi (1980-2015) and Walter Zambaldi, the current director.

Significant accounts offered by playwrights, actors, directors and stage designers become authentic sources for the reader to grasp a different point of view of the theatrical work.

A substantial section of the volume, consisting of photographs and press reviews, is an anthology devoted to thirty-five productions considered significant in terms of artistry and production design. The individual entries offer an understanding of the specific qualities of the productions and record the stylistic and expressive changes that have characterized the various eras.

The volume closes with the illustrated theaterography, the bibliography and the index of names.
