Jan Fabre nella Cappella del Pio Monte della Misericordia a Napoli

Caption

True to the cultural tradition of the Pio Monte della Misericordia, which has always displayed contemporary art in its Chapel, four remarkable new Jan Fabre sculptures dialogue with the 17th-century paintings already present there. After the hugely successful “Oro Rosso” exhibition, Jan Fabre returns to Naples with a permanent installation in the Pio Monte della Misericordia chapel. Four coral sculptures featuring complex symbolic and iconographic combinations dialogue with as many 17th-century paintings in the chapel, interweaving Fabre’s research into the body in all its forms with the aesthetic and spiritual surrounding context.

This book accompanies the installation, contributing to an interpretation of the work with four monographic texts by Melania Rossi, Dimitri Ozerkov, Bianca Cerrina Feroni and Els Wuyts, each one centred on one of the sculptures. A text by Stefano Causa also helps contextualise this operation within the focus that the Pio Monte della Misericordia has always directed at contemporary art. An exceptional set of illustrations specially produced for the occasion completes the whole.
