The catalogue accompanies the exhibition of the same name presented in Rome on the Palatine Hill from 17 July to 3 November 2019. If Kronos is time passing, Kairos is the right moment, the one when something specific happens. This double definition creates a bond, but also a contrast, between time as quantity, Kronos, and time as quality, Kairos, along the course of a historical dimension, narrated on the Palatine Hill through 15 works by as many Italian and international artists invited to take part. The exhibition suggests a vision of the contemporary that engages in a dialogue with the historical heritage, revealing the continuity and stratification that characterise the richness and uniqueness of the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo. The volume opens with a photo gallery that visually transport the reader into the heart of the exhibition. The introduction by curator Lorenzo Benedetti, who interprets the two concepts of time in relation to art, is followed by a critical anthology with texts by Roland Barthes, Giacomo Marramao and Giovanni Gurisatti. Finally there is the catalogue of the works exhibited, with descriptive texts, comparative works and the artists’ biographies.
