Romamor (Rome, Villa Medici, 1 March-12 May 2019) is an exhibition being held by the Académie de France on French artists Anne and Patrick Poirier, with a selection of works dating from the 1970s to their most recent production. After studying at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the two artists won the Prix de Rome in 1967, arriving the following year at Villa Medici, in Rome, where they remained until 1971. Since then, they have always worked together on the subject of memory, using a language that has passed through architecture, painting, sculpture and land art. The constant motifs of their research have always been architecture, archaeology and mythology (seen as metaphors of the memory and a means to explore the physical world and its links to the world of the subconscious) and they avail of hugely diverse techniques and materials.
The catalogue reproduces all the works in the exhibition, set in the splendid Villa Medici, all accompanied by a conversation between the curator and the artists.
