It provides a detailed account of the contemporary projects to restore, rearrange and extend one of the world’s most outstanding museums – also by virtue of its being housed in an architectural complex that fully expresses Andrea Palladio’s finest design talents. There is also a reconstruction of the adopted design process, what lay behind the decisions taken and the scope of the completed works.
As stressed by Renata Codello, the hope is that the experience gained during the works executed for the Grande Accademia may be of help to those promoting and implementing works of similar amplitude and commitment in the many museums entrusted with a large part of the heritage in Italy’s keeping.
The design phases are recorded in detail in drawings, pictures of the works and an extensive photographic report by Alessandra Chemollo and Fulvio Orsenigo.
