Palatino Contemporaneo. Da Duchamp a Cattelan. Arte contemporanea sul Palatino

Caption

After Post-classici (2013) and Par Tibi, Roma, Nihil (2016), the exhibition Da Duchamp a Cattelan. Arte Contemporanea sul Palatino, promoted by the Rome – Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape Special Superintendence from an idea by Francesco Prosperetti and Alberto Fiz, once again deals with the relationship between ancient and contemporary art; an open invitation to reflect on our memories, the meaning of ruins and a vision of modernity through the installations, many of them site-specific, of over 100 works placed in the Palatine Stadium and the lower peristyle of the Domus Augustana as far as the Severian Arches and the terraces above them that dot the hill where Rome was born and chosen by successive emperors as the site for their own residences.
The works are from the ALT museum created by the architect Tullio Leggeri, one of Italy’s most prominent collectors, who worked with artists since the sixties to foster their projects and offer assistance with technical and creative issues.
The catalogue comprises an introductory essay by the curator and conversations and contributions from Marcello Barbanera, Alessandro D’Alessio, Ugo La Pietra, Tullio Leggeri, Gianni Pettena, Francesco Prosperetti and Luca Vitone. The works on site are exhaustively documented by critical essays and extensive photographs taken exclusively for this occasion by Andrea Jemolo.
