The exhibition at the MART in Rovereto examines the work of Giuseppe Penone, a key exponent of Arte Povera. The development of the artist is set in its historical context and the 60 works on display make it possible to observe the development of his art in Italy from the mid-20th century to the present day.
An important figure in the Arte Povera movement, over the years, Penone developed his own particular language which redefines the very parameters of sculpture. The whole of the exhibition at the MART in Rovereto revolves around this practice: more than 60 works represent some of the most important moments in the artist’s work, with particular emphasis on his most recent work. The exhibition fits into a wider institutional design of temporary exhibitions and a recent re-arrangement of the gallery’s collections, tracing a path that enables visitors to explore how art in Italy has developed over 200 years, from the mid-19th century to the present day.
