A restless, dissatisfied, aloof artist: a path of complete solitude, in Brittany, the Island of Burano, the hills of Asolo and Montello.

[Gino Rossi / General catalogue] Gino Rossi, trained in contact with French figurative culture, captured the expressive potential of chromatic synthesis in his paintings, though often with compositional rhythms close to decorativism. Starting in 1918 he made works of cubist inspiration, focusing for the most part on issues of the construction of form. His artistic activity was abruptly interrupted in 1926 when he was confined to a psychiatric hospital.
This monograph, through a careful selection of works, offers an indispensable source of information on a little-known artist, one difficult to interpret due to the gaps in his activity and the variety of his expressive language. The aim is to restore Rossi to his rightful place in the Italian and European artistic panorama of the first half of the 20th century.
