[Richard Rogers Partnership. Works and projects] Richard Rogers, the very successful English architect (born in Florence in 1933) has made a decisive contribution to the formation of the new English national style, or namely “high-tech”. Rogers’ career is marked by works like the Creek Vean house in Cornwall (1966) and the Reliance Controls factory in Swindon the following year, both made with Norman Foster, and of course the Centre Georges Pompidou, with Renzo Piano (completed in 1977). The latter has become a sort of extreme manifesto of the architectural aesthetic based on functional and formal models derived from the universe of advanced technology. Ten years after the Centre Pompidou, the building for the new headquarters of Lloyd’s in the center of London raised eyebrows once again. Alongside these famous works, the book also documents many projects developed by Rogers, while providing coverage of his interest in urban planning issues and his work on large-scale design, combined with a constant focus on the study of the mechanisms and processes of transformation of the modern city.
