Corradino D'Ascanio, known almost exclusively as the designer of the Vespa, but also a pioneer in the field of aeronautics.

[The flying machines of Corradino D’Ascanio]. The book on Corradino D’Ascanio (1891-1981) draws attention to a figure known above all as the designer of the Vespa scooter, but also active, since the years between the two world wars, in the field of aeronautics. Working for Piaggio from 1932 on, D’Ascanio designed not only the standard Vespa and its well-known offshoots, but also many experimental prototypes, collaborating with the racing sector of the company in Pontedera. Illustrated with over 120 images, including period photographs, drawings and working sketches, the book is divided into three sections: the early works of D’Ascanio as designer of airplanes, motors, propellers and other patented inventions; the designs and creation of different prototypes for helicopters; the development of the Vespa, related products and record-setting motorscooters.
