This palazzo in Vicenza hosts termporary exhibitions, and contains an important collection of Venetian paintings, as well as a fine selection of Russian icons.
[Galleries of Palazzo Leone Montanari / Guide] While at first glance it seems like a Baroque building, Palazzo Leoni Montanari, which was completely restored in the 17th century, actually represents a key component of the ancient urban complex of Vicenza.
Besides its halls sumptuously decorated with stuccowork and frescoes, like the spectacular Hercules Loggia, the building, which hosts exhibitions on its ground floor, also contains a collection of Venetian paintings on the second floor, including works by Longhi, Canaletto, Guardi, and a fine collection of Russian icons on the upper level.
The guide, featuring very beautiful images, describes the precious decorations of the rooms and the individual pieces of both collections.
