This second monograph on the architecture of Tadao Ando (Osaka 1941), introduced by an extensive essay by Francesco Dal Co, examines the Japanese architect's work from the early 1990s to the present day, completing the record published by Electa in 1994.

The winner of the Pritzker Prize in 1995, Ando has continued to rise on the contemporary international architectural scene. The catalogue of works, which forms the core of the publishing initiative, contains a selection of his most significant works, notably including: the Museum of Gojo Culture (1995), the Himeji City Museum of Literature, library and archives (1996), the museum and restyled seafront in Kobe (1996), the Church of Light Sunday school in Osaka (1999), the Daylight Museum in Shiga (1998), the Komyo-ji Temple in Saijo (2000), the Pulitzer Foundation in St Louis, Missouri (2001), the Toyosaka Library (2000), the Nishitonami-gun camera museum (2000), the International Library of Children’s Literature in Tokyo (2002), the Aomori Contemporary Art Centre (2001), 21_21 Design Sight in Tokyo (2007). A summary of works, a biography and a bibliography complete the book. In Italy, Ando has built the Teatro Armani in Milan (2000) and a private house and the Fabrica research centre in Treviso for Benetton, (2000). He recently completed the restoration of Palazzo Grassi in Venice and is currently restoring and refurbishing Punta della Dogana for the headquarters of the Fondazione Pinault per l’Arte Contemporanea. This book also comes in a slipcase with the first volume of Ando’s works, dating from 1969 to 1994.
