The guide outlines an itinerary through the complex of Palazzo Ducale, filled with Renaissance and modern decoration, all the way to the famous Bridal Chamber of Mantegna. English edition.
Composed of multiple buildings, Palazzo Ducale in Mantua is actually a monumental complex that appears, at first, to be a labyrinthine sequence of museum rooms of different styles and eras. The itinerary outlined in the guide describes this variegated succession of spaces, explaining the original layout of the apartments, which were connected but had their own independent histories and organization.
With an overall plan and individual plans of the spaces along the itinerary, the guide facilitates the visit to each apartment. After a short historical introduction, the volume accompanies the reader through the entire complex, filled with Renaissance and modern decoration, all the way to the famous Camera Picta, known as the Bridal Chamber, by Mantegna.
The collections displayed in the palazzo, nearly all extraneous to its history, are discussed in the final part of the guide.
