The underlying concept of the exhibition is the systematic comparison of these two figurative cultures through the centuries. The various itineraries, now characterized by extreme similarities and now by profound differences, and the many masterpieces lent by leading museums in both countries, which can be compared here directly for the first time, make this a compelling exhibition.
