[Brera mai vista / Two paintings by Lucio Fontana: Spatial Concepts. Forms, 1957] This third ‘Brera mai vista’ exhibition is an exception, since it is not devoted to the paintings in the storerooms of the Pinacoteca di Brera, but to two pictures by Lucio Fontana, generously lent by the Fondazione Fontana in Milan. The reasons for this exhibition are in any event linked to the activities of the Monuments and Fine Arts Service. In fact, this tribute to the artist is linked to the state’s purchase of the cement ceiling executed by Fontana, in 1956, for the dining room of the Hotel del Golfo di Procchio on the Island of Elba, whose restoration was carried out by Barbara Ferriani and supervised by Matteo Ceriana, and which would otherwise have been destroyed during the renovation of the hotel.
