A new book on a burning issue by an eminent scholar.
A telling collection of articles, letters and interventions on the future of Italy’s cultural heritage. In all, the volume contains about forty articles, letters and interventions at the Ministry of Culture by Salvatore Settis, concerning the future of Italy’s cultural heritage, and the controversies and discussions they have aroused. There is also his complete correspondence with Ministers Melandri and Urbani, and the unpublished transcription of a hearing at the Chamber of Deputies just before the Urbani Code was issued. In his preface, the author seeks to sum up the present situation. Each text is accompanied by a brief explanatory note giving the main contextual elements, and an appendix containing extracts from the more important legislative texts under reference.
