A large selection of recent works by this South African artist, active in Holland since 1996, is on show at the MACRO.
Moshekwa Langa’s art is a stratification of images and texts that are seemingly incongruous, but which suggest an intense inner life and an explosive personality. The diverse media Langa employs (painting, drawing, installation, photography, collage, video) are developed and assembled in themes that are of great personal resonance. His works deal with the subject of cultural identity and relations between different cultures in contemporary European society.
