Back in bookstores, in an updated, revised edition, a unique book that outlines, through images and texts, the story of the churches of the city of Milan, and the artworks they contain.
A complete study of all the churches of Milan, including those that have been destroyed but are known to us through surviving documentation: a total of 140 churches, presented in geographical order.
The history of each church is traced from the origins to the present, with special focus on artworks: paintings, altarpieces, frescoes, sculptures, stained glass windows, liturgical furnishings. The new edition is updated to include the many recent works of restoration, as well as the repositioning of many of the artworks that have been gathered over the years by the city’s museums, especially the Diocesan Museum and the Brera Gallery. The most important works are reproduced in the book to complete the documentation of the individual churches. An appendix also includes the churches built in the 1800s and 1900s. Preface by Maria Teresa Fiorio.
