The points of view about art as a visionary force - declared Pinault. The choices of Caroline Bourgeois confirm the extraordinary capacity of artists to explore the relationship with our interrogative selves and our relationship with others.
The “Elogio del Dubbio” exhibition curated by Caroline Bourgeois opens on 10 April 2011 at the Punta della Dogana, the old Dogana da Mar at the mouth of the Grand Canal, a symbol of the city of Venice. It is a collection of old works and new ones by artists exploring “anxiety, the questioning of certainties in terms of identity and the relationship between the inner, personal dimension and that of the work”. Adel Abdessemed, Maurizio Cattelan, Subodh Gupta, David Hammons, Roni Horn, Jeff Koons, Paul McCarthy, Julie Merethu, Bruce Naumann, Charles Ray, Thomas Schütte, Elaine Sturtevant and Tatiana Trouvé. Thirteen artists interviewed by critics, art historians or other artists talk about themselves and their work in an exhibition that will last 18 months, repeating the success of the previous “Mapping the Studio”. An in-depth exploration artist’s inner thoughts and the anxieties expressed in their works.
