The exhibition "Postmodernism: style and subversion 1970-1990" staged by the Victoria&Albert Museum and due to run at the MART (contemporary art gallery of Rovereto and Trento) presents the movement not only from the esthetic point of view but also from a subversive standpoint, suggesting a new way of contemplating the world in an era dominated by globalization and the media.
With contributions from professionals, theorists and international critics, this book emphasizes the all-round nature of the impact of the phenomenon through art and design. It documents and explores in depth the influence of the movement on architecture, interiors and town-planning; on production, graphics and design furnishings; on the fashion and style industry; even on photography, films, television and videos from MTV to Grace Jones, from White Noise to Bladerunner, from Thierry Mugler to Comme des Garçons. The catalogue, in the small-format Italian version, edited by Elisabetta Barisoni and Veronica Caciolli, include an article by Paolo Portoghesi and other contributions by Glenn Adamson and Jane Pavitt (who both curated the British edition at the V&A).
